So the old keyword tool seemed to allow you to quickly filter out the "suggested" phrases. The new tool, as far as I know, only allows you to filter the suggestions to the level of "Ideas containing my search terms."  You still get some suggested keywords mixed into the data. So if you are trying to compile a report with specific phrases it makes it difficult to process/handle the data.

So if you prefer the old way of being able to get the search volume numbers from just the keywords you enter, you can use the PPC traffic estimator. And if you want the "Exact Match" numbers make sure you enter the brackets [search phrase].
